Returning to Posting Online

"Blacktop Tenderizing" 2016, Oil on canvas, chicken bone frame
Chicken George dragging a chicken along the road to tenderize the meat. Period painting of two artists living in the West Texas desert circa 2009

For years I've stayed away from posting anything online and put my Scruffy activities on hold. I've kept painting but have stayed away from social media and from posting to my own blog. I didn't like the work I was doing, and I thought it wise to do a hard reset.

During those previous years, I was still figuring out what to paint. It was natural for me to paint trashy, sometimes poorly rendered female figures, sometimes engaging in lewd acts, responding to  some personal emotional pain, but mainly to all of the PC brainwashing and militant 3rd wave (or whatever wave we are on now) feminism that has been going on in our culture for years. But emotional retaliation as the only subject matter in painting can be low-hanging fruit.  I don't mean to say that there isn't any room for emotions or even art-therapy. Actually, I do like a little of it as a spice added to the painting recipe. But too much salt is too much salt.

So I took some time to recalibrate and focus on simpler, funnier ideas and life situations. Someone once said, "It is better to paint small ideas in big ways, than paint big ideas in small ways." -Chicken George Zupp.

Anyway, I am back with some new art and will also be sharing a few older pieces that I actually do like on here soon. I just accessed an old Instagram account that I forgot I even registered for years ago and will be posting new work there as well.

Thanks for stopping by my site. This Scruffy blog is my original number one website that I ever made, and it is still around. Maybe I will republish some old posts on here.
